The memorial building houses a cabin similar to the one Abraham Lincoln was born in. 56 steps, one for every year representing his life, lead up to the memorial.Beginning February 12, 2008, the Abraham Lincoln Birthplace National Historic Site will host the starting event for the nation's celebration of the 200th anniversary of Abraham Lincoln's life. The Lincoln Bicentennial will run from February 12, 2008 through February 12, 2010.
