Autumn in the South Cariboo Region of British Columbia, Canada, can be spectacular. Here the bright yellow leaves of a Black Cottonwood stand out against the clear blue sky. The Black Cottonwood, a member of the Willow Family, rarely exceeds 200 years in age. It is the largest broadleaf tree and can be the fastest growing (up to two metres per year). It is used by the pulp and paper industry for high grade paper for books and magazines. Photo Date September, 2006
