The famous "Memphis Belle", a B-17F-10-BO (41-24485) of the 324th Bombardment Squadron, 91st Bombardment Group had no less than four guns sticking out of its nose, two in sockets cut into the Plexiglas nose and two firing from windows cut into the left and right sides of the nose. It assumed its place in history in May, 1943 as the first B-17 Flying Fortress to have completed 25 missions. Both the plane and crew returned to the States for a grand tour to promote the War Effort. Photographed at the Lowestoft Air Festival 2006 in the UK.
