Poster Art-Print Description:
This stock photo, taken August 20, 2006, shows one of the gates, on the corner of Cochran and Michigan Avenue, at what used to be Tiger Stadium, home of the Detroit Tigers major league baseball team. This stadium was opened April 20, 1912 as Navin Field. In 1938, the stadium was expanded and renamed Briggs Stadium, then renamed Tiger Stadium in 1961. On September 27, 1999, Robert Fick hit a grand slam for Detroit that landed on the right field roof in the 8th inning, which gave the Tigers the win over the Kansas City Royals in the last game ever played at Tiger Stadium. Sadly, demolition of this beautiful and grand old stadium started June 30, 2008.
