One of 12 mural paintings in the Utah State Capitol Building "Rotunda" interior. This one depicts the Mormon pioneers entering the Salt lake valley in 1847. The paintings were a WPA undertaking during the depression years. The 12 murals were painted on 4,500 square feet of canvas and then attach to the capitol interior walls. The paintings were done by Lee Green Richards, Gordon H. Cope, Waldo P. Midgley, and Henry N. Rasmusen. (The 1915 capital building is undergoing earthquake-proofing and restoration. It is now closed until at least 2007.) See similar photos below.
