Normally visitors are allowed to climb the steps, however the steps were closed at the time this image was made. Workers were making repairs to damage inflicted by huricane Wilma. Chichen Itza is located on the Yucatan Peninsula and is a popular tourist destination from those vacationing in nearby Cancun, Mexico.
