Stock Photo Description: Stock photo showing Sony Centre dome, view from below, Potsdamer Platz, Berlin, Germany, April 2008. The Sony Center is the most famous part of the Potsdamer Platz, an ensemble dominated by glass and steel. Seven individual buildings give space for shops, restaurants, a conference center, luxurious suites, offices, art and film museum, a cinema, and the Sony European headquarter. Designed by Helmut Jahn, construction was completed in 2000. The central feature is the oval forum which is designed as a public area and is therefore open to the neighbouring streets. The roof construction is spectacular engineering work: the membrane of tent style roof is fastened to a steel ring which joins the flanking buildings.
