Stock Photo Description: Constructed in 1869 using large limestone blocks, the Chicago Water Tower, with all its small turrets, resembles a tiny European 13th century castle. Designed by architect William W. Boyington, the total height of the tower is 154 ft or 47 m. Because it survived the Great Chicago Fire, the Tower has become one of Chicago's main symbolic landmarks.
