May 17, 2007, coinciding with celebrations of the 40th year of the unification of Jerusalem (1967), the bridge was light up with cables and lights simulating the future suspension cables that will support the bridge. Just a few moments after the bridge was light up, the first traffic accident occured under the bridge. Photo displays MADA paramedics attending to the injured.
