Stock Photo Description: Kea (Nestor notabilis), a solidly built parrot found in the alpine regions of the South Island of New Zealand. It is now quite rare in the wild due to being considered a pest by farmers. The kea is very inquisitive and will approach visitors to its mountain homeland, stealing small objects and begging for food, which is endearing at first but not so much fun when they bite the valves off your car tires or shred your pack.
