Stock Photo Description: Stock Photo of a red Benigoli Koi Carp in the process of feeding. The fish is shown at the surface gulping in the food. One other fish can be seen swimming past. The water is dark with shining ripples on the surface round the fish, which is a red colour. The forms of the water ripples flowing over the fish give this image an abstract and artistic quality. Japanese rice farmers kept them as food fish but somewhere between the 1820s and 1830s, they began to breed some of the carp for aesthetic appeal.
