Stock Photo Description: Stock photo of an early autumn view of the leaves and reddish-orange mature seed-carrying fruit of the Magnolia grandiflora, commonly known as the Southern magnolia or bull bay, a magnolia native to the southeastern United States. It is a medium to large tree 20-30 m tall with a striking appearance, both in leaf and in bloom. The leaves are evergreen, simple and broadly ovate, with smooth margins. They are dark green, stiff and leathery. The fruit consists of an elongated aggregate of follicles, 3 to 8 inches long. This specimen was photographed in the Elizabethan Gardens, Roanoke Island, North Carolina, September 2007.
