Stock Photo Description: A young foliage rosette of the Greek Thistle (Ptilostemon afer), a biennial thistle native to the central and southern Balkans. It forms a rosette of very spiny, narrowly lobed leaves and its flower stem is up to 1m tall. The flowerheads are pinkish purple. Although considered a weed, its very interesting structure is really quite attractive.
