Stock Photo Description: Eastern hemisphere view of the earth from space. This spectacular photo-image is the most detailed true-color image of the entire Earth to date. Using a collection of satellite-based images, a true-color mosaic of every square kilometer of our planet was pieced together using NASAs Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer, or MODIS. MODIS is flying over 700 km above the Earth onboard the Terra satellite. This image is much more impressive than the old, often seen, Apollo 17 pictures of the earth, taken in 1972 - which are often blurry, faded, and of poor reproduction quality.
